Faculty and Instructors

The Center for Writing Excellence Wants to Partner with You!

We support our students best when we are in conversation with those teaching in the classroom. We can work with you to plan and design assignments and prompts, develop best practices for giving feedback on writing or other kinds of texts, and meet your instructional needs.

How We Help

  • Syllabus Statements: The CWE has several templates for syllabus statements about the services of the CWE that you can copy, paste, and adapt to fit your course.
  • Required or Extra Credit Visits: The CWE welcomes and supports faculty who wish to require visits or offer extra credit for students in their classes who visit the CWE. To ensure a smooth process, we ask that you review this page before including this information in your syllabus or assignments.
  • Class Presentations: Our 10-minute intro presentation covers who we are, what we do, and how students can use our services. We also offer content-specific presentations tailored to undergraduate or graduate courses. View this page for more information.
  • Mock Tutoring Live Demo (Undergraduate Only): This 25–30 minute live demo shows a sample tutoring session between a “student” and a “consultant.” The demo helps students understand what to expect during a writing conference by demonstrating the collaborative nature of a session.
  • CWE Class Tours (Undergraduate Only): Bring your class to the CWE in Moody Library for a short, interactive tour led by our staff. Students get to meet peer consultants, learn about services, and ask questions in a relaxed setting.
  • Instructional Consultations: Our professional staff can help you design effective writing prompts, scaffold assignments, and create grading rubrics. We also offer advice on how to give meaningful writing feedback. If interested in a consultation, email us at CWE@baylor.edu.
  • Feedback on Your Writing: As a faculty member, you are eligible to sign up for a one-on-one consultation. We recommend signing up with a graduate consultant in the Division of Graduate Writing.
