Syllabus Statements
We encourage faculty to include a statement on their syllabi that explains the services offered by the Center for Writing Excellence. Please feel free to include the relevant paragraph below in your syllabus and to adapt the statement to your individual context as you see fit.
Undergraduate Courses (in-person)
I encourage you to schedule an appointment with the Division of Undergraduate Writing (DUW) Writing Center this semester to get feedback on your assignments for this course. Located on the 2nd floor of Moody Library (West Wing), the DUW Writing Center offers free assistance at any stage of the writing process (brainstorming, researching, outlining, drafting, revising, editing, etc.). During your session, the consultant will provide targeted feedback on your writing, focusing first on "higher-order concerns," such as ideas, content, thesis, evidence, and organization, before grammar or style. The DUW consultants aim to equip you with a toolbox of strategies to improve your writing, research, editing, and proofreading skills. The DUW offers three types of appointments: in-person, video conference, and written feedback (returned within 48 hours). I recommend scheduling an in-person or video conference consultation for a more interactive and collaborative experience. Please upload or bring the the assignment prompt, your draft, and any other relevant materials to your appointment. Include my name as your professor when you schedule, and a report will automatically be sent to me after your session. You can set up an appointment online at https://baylor.mywconline.com/. Note: If you are a multilingual student or a student with disabilities, the DUW consultants will work with you to meet your specific needs.

Graduate Courses (in-person and online)
The Division of Graduate Writing (DGW) offers free writing consultations for any writing project at any stage. Consultants are all experienced doctoral students from a variety of disciplines. The DGW Writing Center offers three appointment types: in-person consultations, video conferences, and written feedback. For in-person and video appointments, consultants will read your work for up to an hour ahead of your appointment and prepare feedback; you will then meet with them during your appointment time to discuss their feedback. For written feedback appointments, consultants will spend up to an hour reviewing your document and summarizing their feedback; written feedback appointments do not have a meeting component. The DGW also offers regular workshops related to writing, research, and publishing. Visit the Division of Graduate Writing page at cwe.artsandsciences.baylor.edu/consultations/dgw to find out more.
