Dr. Lauren Short

Dr. Short has served as the Assistant Director of the University Writing Center since August 2020 and Director of the Division of Undergraduate Writing since 2025. Dr. Short joined the faculty at Baylor in 2020 after finishing a Ph.D. in Composition Studies from the University of New Hampshire. She is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Professional Writing and Rhetoric (PWR) Program in the English Department and is an affiliate faculty member in Women's and Gender Studies.
Dr. Short has taught numerous courses in writing and rhetoric. Her interests include writing center theory and practice, creative nonfiction, and religious rhetorics.
When she’s not at Baylor, Dr. Short enjoys spending time with her husband, sons, and corgi named Steve. She enjoys traveling, reading, baking, listening to music, and watching British TV shows.
